One of the great advantages of the digital age is the vast amount of information and opinions that consumers are exposed to when making a buying decision. This gives enormous exposure to businesses, whether in a positive or negative way. With this significant increase in information, unbiased and authentic customer reviews become increasingly important to both consumers and businesses. There is a wide choice of rating portals and review platforms, that specialize in all types of industries and services.

Research shows that today’s in-store purchases tend to begin and end online. Even ready-tobuy consumers research online for nearby stores, go in-store to buy, and often leave a review about their experience. In turn, those reviews influence the purchasing decisions of your future customers. This makes it crucial for businesses to have a voice in those conversations, monitoring and responding to reviews and comments.

Did you know that for 88% of shoppers, the first step to a local purchase is often an online search? If you want customers to find you, you must have a consistent, rich and engaging online brand that is equally optimized for both desktop and mobile SEO, and that contains long tail keywords for voice search assistants like Siri, Alexa, Cortana, and Google Voice. A few years ago many pundits were ringing the death knell for brick and-mortar stores. Shops— and even walk-in services—they told us, would soon be eclipsed and pushed out by the massive online giants. No one would be shopping in the real world anymore. They couldn’t have been more wrong.

Marketers face a unique challenge to allocate resources across a variety of tactics to target key audiences that need their product or service – with limited information on what combination of products or services will have the optimum impact, which target audience members are ideal fits, and what allocations will provide the best return on investment to the organization. Healthcare has its own myriad of challenges, including many local, regional, and national options for consumers, service line variations, and disparate demographics. The good news is that there is an emerging understanding of digital and multichannel marketing, and ample opportunity to define best practices, systematically calculate marketing effectiveness and return on marketing investment (ROMI), and use technology and data to create great business outcomes.

When we released our first white paper in February 2015 discussing the ways multi-location businesses were using online media to drive in-store visits, most of the strategic opportunities being leveraged by marketers revolved around using things like promotional coupons, beacons and other tactics. While those methods certainly provided incremental lift in in-store traffic and revenue, there existed a number of gaps in connecting online data associated with promotional efforts, to data that indicated a customer actually converted offline at a business location. At press time for our original “online-to-offline” white paper, digital industry giants were still very much in the early stages of evaluating data points that signified offline customer conversions. Many of these “conversions” were somewhat implied (i.e. Clicks on “Get Directions” link), while others were a bit more reliable in signifying in-store visits and purchases made by consumers (i.e. downloadable coupon redeemed in-store

About $3.7 trillion is spent annually in consumer purchases in the United States, according to Deloitte. But it’s often forgotten that only 8% of that is spent on e-commerce. This means that offline brick-and-mortar spending is where the true scale occurs. In order to support consistent franchise growth for your business, digital strategies must be designed to impact every stage of the franchising life cycle.

Location3 client Mountain Mike’s Pizza and their franchisees face significant competitive challenges when advertising on Google, which ultimately requires the need to be both incredibly efficient with campaign setup and incredibly precise when managing bids and local budgets. A quick Google keyword search for “pizza near me” in Mountain Mike’s home state of California yields over 58,000,000 results (“pizza delivery” yields 56,000,000) and often features a predictable set of ad results from industry giants like Domino’s and Pizza Hut, among others. Suffice it to say that buying “pizza”-related terms in AdWords can get incredibly expensive, incredibly quickly, if a local franchisee’s budgets and bids are not managed with precision. When you combine that fact with limited location-level advertising budgets, our team atLocation3 was presented with a significant challenge in helping Mountain Mike’s Pizza generate increases in customer pizza orders while simultaneously ensuring that ad spen
