Respond to customer feedback faster Organizations are demanding greater flexibility from the software they use. Yet, most line-of-business applications are built on top of rigid commercial databases that make them difficult and expensive to deploy. By building applications on top of Amazon Aurora, a cost-effective database solution from Amazon Web Services (AWS), independent software vendors (ISVs) can get away from commercial databases and the hassles they create for end customers. In this webinar, AWS Partner Network (APN) Premier Consulting Partner Onica will show you how to leverage Amazon Aurora to make it easier for customers to operate your software, in turn increasing sales. You will also learn how to leverage the breadth and depth of AWS services to improve developer productivity and become more responsive to customer feedback as a result.

Modernize your applications quickly Many organizations are finding their legacy technology to be inadequate due to its rigidity and high costs. In search of more flexible and cost-effective solutions, many are turning to the cloud. Most Independent Software Vendors (ISVs), however, still build their solutions on commercial databases that are expensive and time-consuming for their customers to deploy and maintain. This is a significant undertaking that can hinder adoption. To address these challenges head on, ISVs can modernize their applications on Amazon Aurora, a database offering from AWS that combines the reliability and performance of commercial databases with the cost-effectiveness and flexibility of open source solutions. In this webinar, you will learn how Virtusa, an AWS Partner Network (APN) Premier Consulting Partner, can accelerate your application modernization journey and help you grow your business. Software plays a central role in business processes and in our daily lives, and companies of all sizes and industries are building, buying and downloading more applications than ever before. However, this increased dependence on software makes the applications powering our world a prime target for cybercriminals. Applications are the No. 1 attack vector for cybercriminals and the main source of breaches. In addition, the way software is developed is changing. Contemporary application development methodologies like DevOps are increasing the speed and precision with which software is produced and deployed. The increased speed and precision have created a modern software factory akin to the manufacturing factories of past industrial revolutions.

New digital technology now makes it feasible to integrate process control and SIF within a common automation infrastructure. While this can provide productivity and asset management benefits, if not done correctly, it can also compromise the safety and security of an industrial operation. Cybersecurity and sabotage vulnerability further accentuate the need for securing the safety instrumented system (SIS). Certainly, a common platform approach using similar hardware and software dedicated for control and safety functions, respectively, can provide the potential for cost savings. However, it is widely acknowledged that utilizing separate, independent, and diverse hardware/software for safety and control is the optimal way to protect against potentially catastrophic common cause and systematic design and application errors. Different vendors offer varied degrees of integration and solutions. The question is: how to provide an integrated control and safety solution with advanced functionality and productivity without compromising safety and security? And, where do users draw the line? A third-party (e.g., TÜV) certification of the hardware/software systems to IEC 61508 specifications carries significant advantages, but should this be the only criterion? How does a third-party certificate extend to the plant’s overall assignment of risk reduction credits for all independent protection layers (IPL)? Control system embedded safety logic solvers may actually increase the SIL requirements of the SIF if no credit is allowed for the distributed control system (DCS) as an IPL. Download the white paper to learn more.

Digital Business Demands Better Software, Faster In your organization, you’ve probably heard questions like these asked of the application development and/or infrastructure and operations organizations. > Why can’t our software development teams keep up with new business requirements? > Why are we always waiting on infrastructure teams? > Why do our business initiatives become outdated before their required software is even deployed? > Is our software development team aligned with corporate goals like engaging younger consumers on their mobile devices?

What is SD-WAN? Software-Defined Wide Area Network (SD-WAN) is the application of software-based network technologies to WAN connections to more effectively route all network traffic between headquarters or data centers, remote and branch offices, and the cloud. More simply, it is the method of leveraging the benefits of the cloud, the bandwidth of broadband and existing enterprise-wide network infrastructure to more efficiently and cost effectively transmit media (data, video, voice) and quickly access cloud applications from every location in the network. SD-WAN dynamically utilizes multiple available connections (MPLS, broadband, LTE) to find the optimal delivery path for traffic across the entire network, shaping the bandwidth as needed to eliminate jitter and dropped data packets, thereby delivering an optimal user experience regardless of location. The more sophisticated solutions will first attempt to dynamically steer traffic to the best available link and if the available link

The network of yesterday is not the network that can take businesses into the future. As mission critical enterprise applications move to the cloud, wide area network (WAN) must adapt to become agile, flexible, and scale rapidly. Leading IT trends such as Internet of Things (IoT), Software as a Service (SaaS), cloud storage, enterprise mobility, emerging transport alternatives, and globalization increase the importance of how network assets are leveraged and how the network is conceptualized. The advantages of public and private data centers and cloud-based applications are significantly diminished if the network is slow, inflexible, and unpredictable. Erratic network performance with high latency, jitter and packet loss can significantly impact user adoption, satisfaction, and overall corporate productivity. As connectivity options continue to emerge, end users are no longer tethered to the office or to the localized applications and services that were trademarks of a primary or branc

Digital transformation (DX) continues to headline business initiatives as companies look to remain competitive in the rapidly changing IT landscape. Organizations are increasingly investing in and implementing next-generation applications and architectures such as software-defined IT and hybrid IT to drive higher levels of efficiency and agility. These modern technologies and architectures, however, also require organizations to evolve their underlying infrastructure to support new capabilities and demands. Recent strength in the server market, which continues to operate in a marketwide refresh cycle, illustrates the growing demand for new infrastructure. 1Q18 marked the server market's fifth consecutive quarter of both shipment and revenue growth and represented a fourth consecutive quarter of year-on-year ASP growth, as customers continue to replace aging server infrastructure with more powerful and efficient systems that leverage the latest platform developments from processor supp

We live in an era of digital transformation. Software is the backbone of this digital transformation. Mobile, cloud, open source, Internet of Things, microservices and AI have made software more complex. Over 80% of the code in today’s software applications is open source. Estimates show that there will be 30 billion connected IOT devices by 2020. Furthermore, 85% of customer interactions will be computer managed by 2020. Software is everywhere. While software has gotten more complex, timeto-market is the new name of the game and enterprises can’t risk security slowing this down.

In the early years of software development, you would often design it, build it, and only then think about how to secure it. This was arguably fine in the days of monolithic applications and closed networks, when good perimeter-based protection and effective identity and access management would get you a long way towards minimising the risk. In today’s highly connected, API-driven application environments, however, any given software component or service can be invoked and potentially abused in so many different ways. Add to this the increasing pace of change through iterative ‘DevOps-style’ delivery and ever-faster release cycles, and many understandably assert that security management and assurance nowadays needs to be an ongoing and embedded part of the development and delivery process.

Application programming interfaces, or APIs, are the way software talks to other software—so by definition, they’re a technology that connects systems. Many enterprise leaders think of them primarily in these terms. For example, 57 percent of respondents to Google’s enterprise digital maturity assessment tool, Apigee Compass, characterize APIs as systems integration technology.
